1. Introduction
EEW Design Limited (“EEW Design”, “we”, “us”) recognises that good business practice includes considering the wider impact of our work on clients, suppliers, people, communities and the environment.
As a small UK-based creative and digital design studio operating from South West London, our social value contribution is practical and proportionate to our size, services and resources.
2. Purpose and scope
This Social Value and Community Commitment explains how EEW Design approaches social value, local impact, responsible procurement, skills, inclusion and environmental responsibility.
It applies to EEW Design directors, employees, contractors, freelancers and suppliers where relevant to EEW Design work.
3. Our approach to social value
EEW Design aims to create social value through responsible business practices rather than broad, unsupported commitments.
Our approach focuses on:
delivering high-quality and accessible communications;
supporting clients with clear, inclusive and usable design;
working responsibly with suppliers and freelancers;
considering local and small-business suppliers where appropriate;
reducing avoidable environmental impact;
supporting flexible and inclusive working practices;
maintaining fair, respectful and ethical business relationships; and
contributing positively to the communities and sectors we serve.
4. Local and small-business impact
Where suitable, EEW Design will consider local, small-business or specialist suppliers for services such as print, production, photography, illustration, development, translation, accessibility support or other project requirements.
Supplier selection will remain based on competence, quality, reliability, confidentiality, cost, availability, client requirements and compliance considerations.
5. Skills and responsible creative practice
EEW Design supports skills development through continuing professional learning, responsible use of creative tools and maintaining current knowledge across design, digital production, accessibility, sustainability, data protection and emerging technologies.
Where appropriate, we may support clients by sharing practical guidance on preparing content, improving accessibility, reducing production waste, improving design consistency or making communications easier to use.
6. Inclusion and accessibility
EEW Design supports inclusive and respectful working practices and aims to consider accessibility and usability in relevant client work.
Where accessibility requirements are agreed within a project scope, we may support accessible documents, presentations, digital content, captions, reading order, alt text, colour contrast and clear information design.
7. Environmental contribution
EEW Design aims to reduce avoidable environmental impact through practical measures, including:
remote-first meetings where appropriate;
digital proofing by default;
reducing unnecessary travel;
careful print specification;
recommending FSC, recycled or responsibly sourced paper where suitable;
considering supplier environmental credentials;
reducing waste in production processes; and
reviewing environmental practices periodically.
8. Ethical procurement and fair working
EEW Design expects suppliers and subcontractors to act lawfully, ethically and professionally.
Where we appoint suppliers, we will take proportionate account of:
competence and quality;
confidentiality and data handling;
fair working practices;
environmental credentials;
modern slavery and labour risk;
sanctions and financial crime considerations where relevant;
reliability and value for money; and
client-specific requirements.
9. Monitoring and review
Because EEW Design is a small studio, social value monitoring is proportionate.
Where relevant to a contract or tender commitment, we may maintain a simple record of actions such as:
local or SME supplier use;
accessibility measures delivered;
digital-first or reduced-travel activity;
environmental print choices;
supplier checks;
community or pro bono support;
skills or training activity; and
lessons learned.
This record may be reviewed periodically and used to support tender reporting or client review discussions where agreed.
10. Contract-specific commitments
Where a client or tender requires specific social value commitments, those commitments should be agreed in writing and may be monitored separately from this general policy.
Contract-specific commitments may include measurable actions, reporting dates, named responsibilities, environmental logs, supplier checks or accessibility deliverables.
11. Review and contact
EEW Design will review this Social Value and Community Commitment periodically to ensure it remains appropriate to our size, services, clients and tender requirements.
